What: As part of the Walking Fish Theatre's dedication to developing new works, the New Plays Reading Series showcases a new play every month free to theatre friends and the public.
WANDERING ILLADELPH
by Robert Jaffe
Sol Braverman aspires to do right, living under the presence of a literal Giant. Confronted by the decadence of the city of Illadelph, Sol tries to show his friends that there is another way. Yet he cannot stop his mother from marrying, again. He can't dress June, his girlfriend, to his desired level of presentation. He can't convince his friend Peter that his morality takes him to a higher level. Sol leaves Illadelph to tour with his band, Tank! As a result, his friends are left behind to do as they want to. Lyrical, dramatic, and full of humor, this play illustrates the ill effects of trying to label people, places, and God.
Robert Jaffe sells fossils and jewelry at the Philadelphia International Airport. Wandering Illadelph is his first play.
